There’s a Scottish ‘Hygge,’ and It Will Be Everywhere in 2018

Remember hygge? The Danish lifestyle concept took the Internet by storm, offering Pinterest its new favorite expression with no English equivalent that connotes a sense of coziness and winter-y warmth. The trend permeated every aspect of our lives, from fashion to interior design to travel to leisure activities (knitting by a fireplace never seemed so appealing before).

The boom of hygge also encouraged other cultures to introduce the world to their own lifestyle concepts, and the latest to sweep social media is the Scottish answer to hygge: Còsagach. Equally fascinating, Còsagach (pronounced coze-sag-och) translates from Gaelic to the feeling of being warm, cozy, and sheltered, has been identified by Visit Scotland as a top trend for 2018.
